Weeks of intensive design. Sleepless nights. Days of printing, testing, reprinting, re-testing, and occasionally questioning my own life choices at 3am with filament in my hair. All of it — every single hour — poured into one machine.
AliShanMaoRC proudly presents the IronBear X470, a Mi-17 inspired, highly scaled Gunship Military RC Helicopter Fuselage that will make you question everything you thought was possible from a 3D printer. Spoiler: your printer is fine. This is just what passion, experience, and a stubborn refusal to compromise on scale detail actually looks like.
Built on everything I learned from designing the WarKroc Mi-24, the SkyMule CH-53, and the Airfox H125M — IronBear is the sum of all of it. Every mistake I made before, every lesson I carried forward, every detail I wished I had done better on previous designs — I put it all right here, into this one helicopter.
What IronBear Brings to Your Flying Field
Fewer parts, more scale. I redesigned the entire philosophy. Fewer individual parts to print and manage, with more scale detail built directly into the fuselage itself. No hunting for tiny printed goodies to glue on separately. The detail is already there, waiting for your paint.
Prints strong, not just pretty. Every part is oriented and designed so that when you print it correctly, it prints in the strongest possible direction for flight stress loads. This is not a display model. This helicopter is built to fly, and the parts are engineered to take the beating that comes with it.
Assembly that won’t test your patience — much. Slide in your FlyWing FW450L V2 or V3 mechanics, lock with a screw, drop two screws to secure mechanics top, locked and loaded. Pull your tail rotor cable through the tail boom, connect it to the tail motor, install the tail rotor with 3 screws. Done. The only part that will take you extra time is routing that tail cable through the boom — and honestly that is just the price of having a properly scaled tail boom. Everything else goes together like it was meant to be together, because it was.
Sliding side doors and snap-lock rear cargo door. Your toy soldiers finally have a proper home. The rear cargo door gives your favourite USB-C cable easy access to the flight controller for parameter setup anytime. No disassembly required. IronBear thought of everything.
A cockpit worth looking into. Scaled instrument panels and seats inside the cockpit. Your dummy pilots are already grinning. They know they landed in something serious.
Realistic landing gear with free-wheeling wheels. Taxi your IronBear on the ground like the real thing. Want a steerable nose gear so you can taxi like an absolute boss? Drop your request in the comments. If enough of you want it, I will make it happen as an add-on.
Ordnance that demands respect. Twin rocket pods. Twin 6-round Hellfire payloads — that is 12 Hellfires, yes you read that correctly. And those four-barrel 50mm cannons that nobody in the RC world can ignore. Local pigeons have already filed for emergency relocation permits. The full military weapons load attaches and detaches cleanly from the scaled side wings with realistic structural supports, just like the real helicopter. Mechanics Compatibility
IronBear X470 is designed and tested specifically for FlyWing FW450L V2 and V3 mechanics, without tail boom.
Important note on tail rotor cables: Because IronBear uses its own scaled tail boom, you will need to extend your tail rotor cable length. If you have already built a SkyMule CH-53 or WarKroc Mi-24 from AliShanMao RC, you have already done this before. Welcome back, you know the drill.

FlyWing tail rotor: The updated 3-screw silver tail rotor is the one to use. You know the one.
What about smaller FlyWing mechanics? I have had requests from FlyWing Huey UH-1, Bell 206, BO105, and MH-60 helicopter owners who want to build an IronBear with their existing smaller mechanics. Printer Requirements
Minimum bed size: 220 x 220 x 230mm Any FDM printer that meets this bed size will handle IronBear just fine.
Tested and working great on: Bambu X1C, Bambu A1, Bambu P1S, Creality Ender 3 V3 Plus (my personal favourite), and other Creality FDM printers. If your printer fits the minimum bed size, you are good to go.
Filament Recommendations
PLA is highly recommended for easiest printing and best results. White, grey, or black PLA tends to print most consistently — coloured filaments from various brands can sometimes have their quirks.
That said, if you trust your PETG or prefer another filament your printer handles well, go for it. Printing is your choice and your adventure. I just recommend what works best in my experience.
Stick with your trusted filament brand. A good filament you know beats an unknown brand every time.
Approximate filament usage: Based on my Bambu X1C with the included 3MF settings, the full kit uses approximately 833 grams of filament and prints in approximately 35 hours. Your print time may be shorter or longer depending on your printer speed settings. Plan accordingly, brew some coffee, and enjoy watching layers turn into a helicopter.
Finished fuselage weight: Approximately 730 grams fully assembled — light enough to fly beautifully, strong enough to take the beating of real RC helicopter flights. That is what designing parts in the right print orientation does for you.

How long will the build take? Fuselage assembly and mechanics installation can absolutely be completed in a single dedicated day. However — and I say this with love — if you want IronBear to look like the battle-hardened gunship helicopter living in your head right now, that takes longer. Paint, weathering, decals, details — that is where the real time goes, and that is where the real reward comes from. Build it right. Every flight will remind you that you did.

Q: Which mechanics does IronBear X470 fit? A: FlyWing FW450L V2 and V3 mechanics only, without tail boom. Tail rotor cable extension is required — covered in the assembly video series on YouTube.
Q: What printer do I need? A: Any FDM printer with a minimum 220 x 220 x 230mm build volume. Bambu X1C, A1, P1S, Creality Ender 3 V3 Plus, and other standard FDM printers all work perfectly.

Q: How long does assembly take? A: Fuselage assembly and mechanics installation in one focused day is very achievable. Full build with painting and detailing — that depends entirely on how much love you are willing to put into it. The more the better.
Q: What file formats are included? A: All parts are provided in STL format. A complete 3MF project file with best print orientations pre-configured for Bambu X1C is also included in the bundle. If your slicer cannot open 3MF files, use it as a visual orientation reference.
Q: Will this work with mechanics other than FlyWing FW450L V2/V3? A: Not without significant modification. If you want to see smaller FlyWing mechanics compatibility developed, send an email to ali@alishanmaorc.com. Enough requests and I will make it happen as a separate add-on kit.
Q: Do design updates cost extra? A: Any update or improvement I make to existing IronBear parts is free for full kit purchasers. New add-on packs, accessories, and future goodies packs are separate products.
Q: I missed my download window. What do I do? A: Email ali@alishanmaorc.com. If your files show as not downloaded, I will sort it out for you immediately. No drama, no arguments.
